Holocaust Rememberance Day

The Holocaust was the persecution and murder of approximately six million Jews by the Nazis. "Holocaust" is a word of Greek origin meaning "sacrifice by fire." The Nazis, who came to power in Germany in January 1933, believed that Germans were "racially superior" and that the Jews, deemed "inferior," were an alien threat to the German racial community. The first time I ever heard about the Holocaust was when I was in the third grade and read an Anne Frank book that made me cry. I Then read more about her story in seventh grade. I couldn't believe how anyone could have lived during that period and be so positive. I really look up to her for all her courage at such a young age. Anne Frank's story and this one  helped me understand how unjust  the Germans were back then.

Drama Drama

Gossip is one of those things that is hard to escape from in high school. I believe that gossip is when you say something negative about a person when they arent there. I don't think you are gossiping when you are saying nice things about that person when they aren't there. Whenever someone starts venting to me about another person I dont really like it is very hard not to say I don't agree with them, but I do try to hold back my feelings as much as possible. When I do talk about people I say things that I wouldn't be afraid to say to their face. I also like to think about how much I hate when people say things about me that aren't true. The best way to stay out of the drama in high school is to just say  positive things about people when someone else may be bashing them. This way you feel better about yourself and other people like you because you look for the good in others. This little story was a perfect way to get across that gossiping hurts people and you should always watch what you say.

Genre Project

This past week I have been working on my genre project. The genre I chose was classic rock. I really loved this project. I found out I really like classic rock music. The songs I used in my project in my project were "Let it be " and " With a little help with my friends" by the Beatles. I also had " Old time rock and roll" by Bob Seger. I also used the song "Pour some sugar on me" by Def Leppard. Another song I used was "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey. Queen's "Under pressure" was also another great song I used. I know all of these song by heart when because my parents would always play the oldies in the car. I chose this genre because I knew it would appeal to boys and girls. Even though this project was fun I'm glad I'm done with it.

Easter Break =D

Spring break 2009 was a very relaxing and exciting time. I didn't go anywhere out of state, but that didn't stop me from having a good time. I was so excited about this spring break in particular because I didn't have to do anything. I wouldn't have to wake up for soccer everyday like previous years. All I had to do was enjoy the free time I had. Most of my days consisted of sleeping in and staying up late with friends. One very exciting thing that happened over break was that I got my license! On Easter Sunday  I went to church and then my whole family went out to breakfast. This Easter my dad and mom got me a purse and a bunch of other little goodies in my Easter basket. Overall, I had an amazing break and wish it wouldn't have gone so fast.

Favorite Quote=]

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten. Do good anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.

This quote is one of my all time favorites by Mother Teresa. She was a woman of wise words and had a sincere heart. Everything in this quote I would love to live by, but I'm human and I don't always make the best choices. The first time I read this beautiful saying I got chills beacause it was so moving to me. I realized that you have to be your biggest fan and not let other people get the best of you. When I was younger and even now, I would get so caught up in what people thought of me. I couldn't be the best I could be or try things because I was afraid of failure. I love to look at this quote whenever I don't have the confidence to do something because I'm worried of what my peers might think of me. I know God won't judge me. I'm so glad that I have family and friends that are very supportive in whatever I do.

Lenten Promise

For Lent this year, I decided I was going to try to go to mass more than once a week, pray more and give up sweets. I haven't done very well on the mass and prayer part, which is very selfish of myself. I am though doing very well with giving up sweets, dont get me wrong it is very difficult to do!! I really would like to buckle down in the next weeks with saving time for prayer and repentance. If I took ten minutes out of my day I think I would feel better about my relationship with Christ. I think teenagers really need to find time to bring Christ into their lives. Teenage years can be the hardest years in a person's life and is a very important for them to feel like they have someone that cares. The one person that always cares is God.

Future Career

What do you want to be when you grow up? Why are you interested in this career? Do you know someone who does this for a living? What kind of education or training will you need? Do you think that you will enter this career? Please title this entry Future Career.

I would love to do anything that involves fashion or interior decorating. I would never get bored with that ! I have always loved decorating because my mom loves it ! I love going thrift store shopping with her! We always find funiture and paint it, and then the piece looks totally unique and cute. Someday, I hope to own my own thrift store and a really cute boutigue. I also would love to decorate hotels or restraunts. I don't care if I don't make a lot of money! I just want to wake up every morning and love the job I have!!!

Service Project

Last summer I worked at 123 you and me, which was pretty much a day-care for little kids!
I found out about the service project at school and from friends. I thought it would be a great way to earn service hours.
I enjoy working with little kids. I love doing little kid things like coloring, swinging on the playground, watching Disney movies,
having nap time, and the list goes on! The other bonus to working there was I knew a lot of people doing service hours there as well.
I got over fifty hours and plan to work there again this summer. I learned that I love little kids, but don't want to have them for awhile! Kids take a lot of time, energy, and patience. This service project helped me learn that when you work with little kids you just have to have patience.

The Great Paul Harvey

Paul Harvey was the most listened-to radio personality in America and his broadcasts rank among  the top 10 of  radio network programs. It was said that Paul grew up in the newsroom. Harvey was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, he made his own radio sets when he was a young boy.  His contributions to broadcasting and communications took him around the world and brought

him full circle back to Oklahoma for induction into The Hall of Fame. In St. Louis, Paul became the Special Events

Director and newsman at KXOK. ABC Networks have been bringing Paul to national radio audiences for over 50 years on over 1000 radio stations.  Paul was an incredible man who was witty and full of energy. Though Paul is gone he will be greatly missed. I will end this blog with some of his wise words. “In times like these, it helps to recall that there have always been times like these.”

Name project

This past week I have been working hard to make my name project perfect. I even looked up pictures at my house the weekend before we start the assignment. I was so excited to start looking. One day in class I found awesome pictures and the next day they were gone some how !!! I was so angry and stressed because that was a huge set back. I was nervous I wasn't going to finish in time! I also was stressing because I couldn't find the song I wanted and on top of that I didnt know how to put it on iphoto. In the end though I finished the project and I believe it turned out pretty well. It was the best I could do, considering what happen to me. Im really looking forward to the project we are doing on the movies.

Love is in the air =]

Okay this blog is going to be about Febuary 14 as we all know it to be Valentine's Day. This time of year there is love in the air. The love I have have isn't for some crush, but for my family and friends. On Valentine's day this year I'm going to show my love to my family and friends by telling them how much they mean to me. I really do appreciate their love and support in everything I do in life. I believe I need to do this more often. Not just on Valentine's Day but everyday. The people in your life that are their for you are usually taken for granted until they are gone. I don't want to be one of those people that takes my family and friends for granted. I'm going to make this my goal to tell someone in my family or group of friends how much I care about them. I also want to make this Valentine's Day a day not just for love for others, but love for what gifts God has given me. I always want to thank God for all that is good in my life. This Valentine's Day is going to be a great one !

Disappoint in the Eyes of Many

The recent picture of Michael Phelps doing drugs was a big let down to many. I really thought Michael was a great role model for young people. That opinion has change but, I do still think his performance at the 2008 Olympics was amazing. I realize that everyone one wants to let loose and just relax sometimes, but there are other ways to do that and there is no excuse for his actions. I think it is very important for people that are in the media spotlight to set good examples for the youth in our country. Some famous people that seem to make bad choices must have not heard the expression monkey see monkey do. Which is exactly what the kids today are seeing and doing. A person who serves as a model in a particular behavioral or social role for another person to emulate this is a role model.  I would love to be a role model to someone someday.

Crazy Week =]

This week has been awfully crazy for myself. Monday the big day after the Super Bowl I got sick and had to stay home from school! I hate staying home from school because I get so behind and then stress out like crazy. Also on Monday my cousin from Orange County came into town. My cousin's name is Kaite and she is going to being living with us for the next four months. Im super duper excited because she is so funny and she is a crazy good artist. Kaite's paintings could make you cry they are so good. So over all Monday had its downs and ups. Tuesday however, I went to school and the whole day just stunk! I felt terrible and had so much homework on top of that. After school I came home and slept thinking that would make my sickness go away. That plan didnt work! I woke up on Wednesday and still felt horrible. I stayed home and did absolutely nothing. That night I started to feel better and decided to start working on all my make-up homework. Really fun time right !? Ha ha yeah right! The next day was Thursday and I had to get up early because I had totally forgotten I had someone shadowing. Overall, today was good other than I feel really stressed with all my homework. Hopefully, Friday is less stressful!

Foreclosure Process

Okay, in this blog I will talk about what I learned about foreclosure. When given this assignment I didn't know the legal name for the process of a mortgage lender reclaiming the home of someone who fails to pay the mortgage. After reading litttle bits and pieces about what foreclosure was, I realized didn't know much about it. I wanted to touch on the fact that it is very important to keep up on your loan payments. It is also important to keep in touch with your service company. They are there to help you figure out how you want to pay every month and whats a good payment plan for you. Another thing I learned that can help me if I want to prevent foreclosure is to be sure to document all discussions I have with my servicer, write down the date, the name of the individual I talked with, and the outcome of my call. Additionally, i need be sure to follow-up all telephone requests with a letter to my servicer. Finally, I need be sure to meet all deadlines provided during the process. What do you know?! A girl can learn something new everyday!

Our New President

Our new President of the United States has one big word on his mind and that word is CHANGE. Don't get me wrong I do believe change is a good thing and think there are issues that need to be addressed differently. I wouldn't say President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are the ones to make this change for our country. I don't understand how Joe Biden is a devout Catholic but still is pro-choice. There is no way that you can be both. President Obama is One hundred percent pro-choice and is going to do everything in his power to keep abortion legal. The President also is for the Freedom of Choice act which means that "every woman has the fundamental right to choose to bear a child; terminate a pregnancy prior to fetal viability; or terminate a pregnancy after viability when necessary to protect her life or her health.
It prohibits a federal, state, or local governmental entity from denying or interfering with a woman's right to exercise such choices; or discriminating against the exercise of those rights in the regulation or provision of benefits, facilities, services, or information. Provides that such prohibition shall apply retroactively.
It also authorizes an individual aggrieved by a violation of this Act to obtain appropriate relief, including relief against a governmental entity, in a civil action."(Freedom of Choice Act) This is one major reason I don't like our new President and Vice President. I do h
ope and pray that God watches over them as they make theses very important decision for the United States.

Things Cecilia LOVES to do on the weekends

This Blog is going to consist of things I like to do on the weekends. The answer is everything and anything as long as its legal. I don't believe that to have a good time when you are a teenager you must drink and smoke. My idea of a good time is surrounding myself with people that make me laugh. Friday night I'm usually at the big ND game and then out to dinner with a big group of people.Sometimes we switch it up a bit with
bowling, iceskating, and going to movies. There are a lot more activies I enjoy doing on the weekends which include working out or just going on a run. I also love spending time with my family.
On Sunday my family always goes to mass then out to dinner. This is just a taste of what my weekends are like. =]

Trashy and Classy

The Best part of the Golden Globes for myself is the fashion. The Golden Globes of 2009 had many outfits that resembled the very classy and elegant Audrey Hepburn. There also were some dresses that some may call trashy I hate to say. The one woman that I thought looked absolutely breath taking from head to toe was the Beautiful actress Kate Winslet. Kate also won two Golden Globes last night that were well over due. One dress I wasn't a huge fan of was Amy Adam's big black dress that looked like sparkles had thrown up all over it. I'm still a big fan of Amy Adams even though her dress wasn't as good as she was in "Enchanted". There were many more outfits I approved of at the Golden Globes. One dress that really caught my eye was Hayden Panettiere's beautiful strapless gown. The color of the gown was eggplant. Hayden looked gorgeous along with her co-stars from "Heroes". One other outfit I thought was a little on the trashy side was Jennifer Lopez's dress. I don’t think Lopez should have worn such a revealing dress. She is a proud mother of twins now and needs to start setting good examples for them. Over all I believe that the Golden Globes had more winners than losers when it came to the Fashion.
